Block 1  Spanish 1-2:
-Warm Up 
-Students quizzed a partner on the verb ser using the flashcards that we made earlier this week. .
-Students corrected the workbook pages that they had completed for homework.
-Students wrote a letter to their parents for Open House tonight. 
-Students reviewed the concepts for the quiz: vocabulary, ser and gustar.

-Go to www.classzone.com and take the Unit 1 Lesson 1 Self-Check Quiz.  Copy and paste your score into an email and send that to me through pvlearners. 
-Study for the Unit 1 Lesson 1 Quiz tomorrow.

-Students played Tick Tick Boom to practice the verb ser and the pronouns.
-Students took notes on the verb gustar.

-Students practiced writing words that were spelled out for them and phone numbers that were recited for them.

There was a substitute today because I was out sick.  I did not update grades over the weekend due to being ill.  I will get those updated over the next couple of days.  I apologize for the delay.  

***Because I was absent today, I have moved the preliminary lesson quiz for all classes from tomorrow to Wednesday, August 22, 2012.

-Warm Up - Students started a new paper today. 
-Students completed a variety of exercises in the textbook.  We will go over these in class tomorrow.
-Students had 10 minutes to quiz a partner on the vocabulary for this lesson.
-Students created their own word searches using the blank centimeter grid provided by the substitute and the vocabulary from this lesson.  Students had to hide 20 words in the puzzle in Spanish and write each of their English translations at the bottom of the paper.

-We went over the syllabus as a class.  Each student received a copy and a page where the student and the parent should sign and date acknowledging that they have seen the syllabus.
-Students practiced the Spanish alphabet.
-Students practiced their conversations with classmates after adding the question for how old are you.
-Students completed a personality inventory.

Homework:
-Introductory email due by 7:30 am Monday, August 13.
-Students need to have their binders and 5 dividers for class on Monday.
-Students need to be prepared to recite the alphabet on Monday.  Remember to go to www.classzone.com if you need practice.  Follow the steps to find our book, Avancemos Level 1, and you will be taken to a page where you can click on flashcards.

-Students practiced reciting the alphabet.
-Students completed a Multiple Intelligences Inventory to discover information about how they learn best. 
-Students completed another Find Someone Who activity to get to know other students in the class.
-Students practiced some basic classroom commands in Spanish such as stand up, sit down, etc. 

Homework:
-Send me an email from your pvlearners account by Monday, August 13 at 7:30 AM.  My email address is wwilson@pvlearners.net  This email should tell me a little bit about you.
-Remember that you need a binder and five dividers or a section in a binder with five dividers for my class by next Monday, August 13.

Welcome Back!  What a great first day.  Listed below you will find a summary of what we did in class today.  Spanish 1-2 is listed in white and Spanish 3-4 is listed in black.


Block 1  Spanish 1-2:
-Students completed a student information sheet after being shown the seating chart.
-Students completed a Find Someone Who activity to get to know one another.
-I introduced myself and explained a couple of basic classroom procedures.  We will go over the complete syllabus on Friday of this week.
-Students were introduced to the Spanish alphabet and had a chance to recite it.
-Students participated in their first conversation in Spanish.  They learned how to greet one another, exchange names, state how they are feeling and state where they are from.
-Students participated in an Inside-Outside Circle activity so that they could practice their conversations with multiple partners.
-Students completed an Interest Inventory.

Homework:
*None
*Students will be greeted at the door on Tuesday with one of the questions from today's lesson.


Blocks 2 and 4  Spanish 3-4:

Welcome Back!

Welcome to Spanish with Ms. Wilson.  This semester, I will be teaching Spanish 1-2 during block 1 and Spanish 3-4 during blocks 2 and 4.  I am very excited about the upcoming school year and I can't wait to meet you on Wednesday, August 8th.  Here are a few important things to keep in mind:

1.  First Day of School - Wednesday, August 8, 2012
2.  Remember that the school day now ends at 2:10 instead of 2:00
3.  We will use our pvlearners accounts regularly throughout the semester.  If you don't know your login information, don't worry.  I will help you get that information when you get to school.
